Day 1 - Witnessing Daily

Inspired by a friend of mine, Ryan Powell, I'm starting Day 1 of lifestyle evangelism, witnessing daily. Our family is in Branson. Today, we were at a go-cart track. I had some celebrity million dollar bills from http://www.livingwaters.com/. I always try to have some tracts so I can at least pass some out each day. Afterall, the Lord saved Hudson Taylor with a simple Gospel Tract and millions have come to the Lord through the wake of his ministry.

I gave a tract to the lady at the cash register where we paid for the go carts. I asked if she'd received one of the million dollar bills. She smiled and said she'd seen them. I asked if she'd seen the ones with the million dollar question on the back. She said, "No. I haven't seen that. What's the million dollar question?" "Will you go to heaven," I answered. I encouraged her to read it, "because nothing's more important than your eternal destiny." She started to read the tract and thanked me for it. There were others in line, so I didn't take too much of her time. It was a very simple way to so an eternal seed. The fruit is in the Lord's hands.

Later, when my two little guys, Cory and Joey, were getting on one of the rides for little kids, I gave a million dollar bill to the young lady working the ride. As with the lady behind the register, I usually don't take much time to speak with someone who's working unless it's clear they have time to talk without interfering with their work. She had time to talk while my boys were on the ride, because they were the only ones on the ride!

I asked her if she'd received a million dollar bill. She took it and laughed at the celebrity caricature of Leonardo DeCaprio. It's a good transition from the natural to the spiritual, since most people find them interesting. I told her it had the million dollar question on the back. She turned it over and started to read it. I asked her if she knew what her eternal destiny would be. She said, "no." I encouraged her to read the tract, "because the bible says that we can know for sure what our eternal destiny will be, and there's nothing more important than knowing the answer to that question." She continued reading and started getting convicted by the questions that walk you through the moral law. The tract begins by helping people see that they've broken all of God's moral law, the 10 Commandments. I encouraged her to continue reading because there was good news that followed. As we started to get my boys off of the ride, I left her with genuine encouragement to read the entire tract and make sure she knew what her eternal destiny would be. She was not upset or angry or offended. Another eternal seed sown. Another chance to encourage someone to consider their eternal fate, the most important thing worth considering.

We can't save a person, but we can lead them to the source of living water and encourage them to drink. Nothing's more exciting than stepping out of the boat and walking by faith and sharing your faith each day! Don't delay. Start your lifestyle evangelism today and ask the Lord to help you share the gospel with at least one person each day, even if it's as simple as passing out a gospel tract.
