I have a special place in my heart for gospel tracts. The Lord saved my oldest son, Christopher, through a gospel tract. When Christopher was about six years old, I was at the bank one afternoon. A young boy, had to be about a third or fourth grader, walked over to me and handed me something. I looked at it. It was a gospel tract. I was impressed by this young man's courage and that he was taking time to sow seeds of the gospel and allowing the Spirit of God to take those seeds and do with them what He sovereignly determines. I took it home that night and showed my boys. I read it to them. It moved Christopher and the Lord stirred his heart to understand the message, receive the message, and obey the message by repenting of his sins and trusting Christ alone for salvation. I often think of that little faithful witness there at the bank. I often think of the eternal value of that one little gospel tract.
One of my heroes of the faith, Hudson Taylor, was saved in part due to a gospel tract that was laying around in his home. He picked it up one day, read it, and the Lord moved in his heart to bring him to salvation. When Taylor went to China, he passed out countless gospel tracts. Sowing seeds like a good and faith sower.
Today, after paying to have my car serviced, I thanked the cashier for her help. I then gave her a celebrity million dollar bill gospel tract. She smiled and thanked me. She tried to give it back but I told her to keep it, "I'm loaded." She laughed again. I told her to be sure and read the back because it has the million dollar question on the back and "because you can't take a million dollars with you." She thanked me again and we departed. Seed sown. Lord, please cause it to fall on good ground!
