Day 39 - Not "Just" Gospel Tracts

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "it's just a gospel tract," as if it's incapable of impacting some one's life for eternity? I must admit that sometimes I find myself getting tempted to be discouraged if I sit down to blog about the day's witnessing encounters and "all" I was able to do was pass out some gospel tracts without engaging in any really meaningful discussion about the gospel. I do love the dialogue with people, but some times I fail to capitalize on opportunities like I probably could or should.

But, it's never "just" a gospel tract. It's the Word of God. The Word of God is living. It's powerful. It's spirit. It's life. Jesus is the Word. It cannot be "just" a gospel tract if it contains God's Word. We are born again by the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23), not by our own eloquence (1 Cor. 2:1-2).

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11)."

When we simply pass out gospel tracts without saying a word, we're sowing life-giving seed that can impact lives for eternity. I praise the Lord that He gave me the grace today to pass out three gospel tracts at Peppers at lunch. I asked one young man if he knew his eternal destiny. In the passing moments that we had (he was working), he said that he was saved and was trusting in Jesus. Only God knows. But he read the gospel message today. Another young man didn't really want to talk about it, but I pray the Lord stirred his heart to read the tract today, and maybe even his co-worker who's a professing believer encouraged him. A young lady took the tract, but we didn't have a chance to talk. I pray these seeds will not return void but shall accomplish what the Lord pleases.

Before you leave the house, or your office, or your car, arm yourself with gospel tracts and pass them out whenever you get a chance. As Jesus said, "a sower went out to sow seed ...."
