Day 94 - John Wants to Follow Jesus

The harvest continues to be plentiful at the Tulsa County Courthouse. John wanted to know how to be saved. He listened attentively to the entire gospel message. We confirmed how repentance and faith in Jesus Christ's finished work alone is the sole source of salvation in which he can securely rest. We confirmed how to follow Jesus with his life.

He honestly confessed that a major stumbling block in his life are the wrong friends that he tends to hang around. I encouraged him to separate from them and get plugged into a healthy, Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church where he can be encouraged in his walk with the Lord. What a blessing to share with a man who is humble and honest and hungry.

There were others, though, he weren't ready to follow Jesus. They didn't dispute the truth but just weren't ready to submit to it.

There were others who thought they knew the truth, like Lodelle, but learned that trying to be good isn't enough to be saved. I asked him if he would want to know if what he believed about salvation were untrue, and he said he would want to know that. So, I explained the gospel to him. He believed but was hesitant to choose to repent and trust in Christ alone for salvation, because he was wrestling with things in his life that he wasn't quite ready to give up. God calls those things that we love more than Him idols. I pray Lodelle will throw away his idols and cling to the savior.
