In John 4, Jesus told his disciples to "look" for opportunities to share the gospel and not wait. Looking requires deliberate action. It requires living with a mission, an eternal, Christ-centered mission. It requires loving Jesus Christ and his mission more than our own worldly wants. It requires a painful death to self.
I'm praying the Lord will continually help me to die to self and keep looking for opportunities every day. I have that choice every time I stop at the gas station to put gas in my car. I can choose to pull up to a pump next to someone who is pumping gas so I can have a chance to engage in a witnessing encounter. The Lord gave me grace to do that this morning. I greeted the gentleman warmly, handed him a gospel tract, and encouraged him to read how he can know for sure that his destiny will be heaven. He hoped his destiny would be heaven, potentially implying that he didn't know for sure. He thanked me for the tract and I wished him a great day. As I pumped gas into my car, he engaged me in conversation. I prayed that he would be compelled to read the tract and give it serious consideration.
Jesus also said in John 4 that some sow and some reap. Today was a sowing encounter. Maybe someone else will get the joy of reaping his eternal salvation.
