Today was particularly fruitful. I had several encounters today with small groups that were very attentive to the gospel and interested in knowing how they can know for sure their eternal destiny will be heaven. The good news is that you can know for sure. That's exactly what the Apostle John wrote in 1 John 5:11-13. We can know! Not because we're good, but because He's good and merciful.
One young lady said she had been told that if you turn away from the Lord then your end will be worse than before. I told her that if one truly repents and turns to Christ alone for salvation, forsaking all else and clinging tightly to Him by faith, then you will not turn from Him. He will give you a totally new heart with new desires (Ezek 36; John 3). He will keep you from turning and stumbling (Jude 24).
Several today wanted copies of the new testament. I urged them to begin reading the book of John and asking the Lord to help them understand and obey what they read. Then they will truly be His followers indeed (John 8:31-32).
