Yolanda waited outside the courthouse on the bench, getting ready for her court appearance. I struck up a conversation with her. She believed that "bad" people would go to hell and people who live "good" lives go to heaven. As I explained to her how she and the rest of the world stand guilty before God for having violated His law countless times, she naturally wanted to know who then could possibly get into heaven. Ah! That's the question we want everyone to ask.
I went through the good news of the gospel with her. She understood that she needed to repent of her sins and trust Christ alone for her salvation. We talked about the need to begin to follow Jesus and get plugged into a good, bible-teaching church that would help encourage her to grow in her walk. I pray the Lord will take the seeds that were sown in her life and cause them to spring up into a great harvest.
It's not always like this, though. There were several at the courthouse today that didn't have any concern about their eternal fate. But, they heard a sincere, genuine warning to consider their destiny before it's too late.
