While driving to my son's football game this evening, I took an on-ramp to get on the expressway. However, as I approached the point where the ramp merged with the expressway, it quickly became clear that the road was actually out. But, I couldn't turn around because a tractor trailer pulled up behind me. I got out to inspect the road and see if it was passable. The driver behind me got out and walked over to check it out, too.
We both agreed it wasn't passable. I thanked him for his help in checking the situation out and handed him a gospel tract. I told him that nothing is more important than his eternal destiny and encouraged him to read the tract and consider whether his eternal destiny is secure. I thanked him again and we parted ways.
On the way home from the game, we stopped to get something to eat. I asked the waitress if she knew what her eternal destiny would be if she died today. She said she thought she would go to heaven but didn't know how to explain. She said she had been saved and believed in God, but she couldn't articulate how salvation takes place. I explained it to her. She seemed to understand but also gave me the impression that she really didn't care that much. There will come a day when it will be the most important thing in the world to her and to everyone else, too.
