Several friends from TBC met at the Tulsa State Fair tonight to share the gospel. It was a great place to witness. In just an hour, I had the privilege of sharing the gospel with at least 20 to 30 people, often in small groups of 3 to 5 people.
The responses were varied, as you would expect. It can weigh on your heart to see people with little concern about their eternal destiny, but it always blesses your heart when you see the law do its perfect work in converting the soul (Ps. 19:7). There were many reactions that were positive, but one thing I've learned is that you can't really judge by the outward appearance. All you can do is share the truth of the Word of Life and trust God to work in the heart as He wills.
In one of my final encounters, I was sharing with a group of two guys and two girls. They were quite attentive and responsive to the questions. One young man asked, who then can be saved (realizing that all have fallen far short of God's perfect standard). He's the one who, when I asked when they were going to repent and trust Christ as their personal savior and follow him, said he was going to do it now! Praise the Lord! His friends, though, didn't respond so enthusiastically. I asked them again, when are you going to do that, admonishing them that they never know when their last day will be.
Turns out that the young man who said he was going to repent now had received a gospel tract some time ago from an evangelist friend of mine, Ryan Powell (www.ryananddana.com). He pulled out the silver coin tract that he had received from Ryan. One sows (Ryan), and another reaps (me), just as Jesus said in John 4.
