Day 124 - Not Ready But Now He's Seriously Considering It

After he helped me load some things in my car (that I bought on a surprise 40th birthday run for Shannon--don't tell her--she doesn't read these), I shared the gospel with him.  Mory listened intently.  He wasn't sure if his destiny would be heaven, but he wanted to know how he could know for sure.  I went through the law with him.  He understood his predicament.  I asked him if he'd ever repented and trusted Christ for his salvation.  He said he had done it many times as a kid, but he wasn't ready to follow him right now.  It was clear there were things in his life that he didn't want to give up, and he didn't want to be dishonest and pretend to have repented when in his heart he was still clinging to things of this world and not really ready to follow the Lord wholeheartedly.

Mory was very honest.  I think there are a lot of "believers" who aren't as honest with themselves as Mory.  I urged him to separate himself from those fleeting, meaningless things that are putting his eternal fate in jeopardy.  I urged him to live for what matters most--the Lord and eternity.  I carefully explained to him what Jesus said about hell and how seriously he should take it.  He continued to listen.  Eventually, Mory thanked me for urging him to take a serious look at his path in life.  He asked me where I went to church.  I pleaded with him to make a clean break from the world and turn wholeheartedly to the Lord now while he still can and to make the most of his life for the Lord while he has time.

I hope he will.
