We arrived in Paris at 8:00 this morning. Our first time in Europe. After we went through immigration and got our bags, we went to purchase a ticket for the RER and Metro, the public rail system, which would take us near our hotel on the left bank. The man who helped us with our tickets spoke English. After he helped us, I asked if he could read English. Yes, he said. I gave him one of my million dollar bill gospel tracts. Is this real, he asked? No, I said. But it has the million dollar question on the back. So he turned it over and began reading. He looked up at me and said in somewhat broken English, "One God. Jesus Christ," and nodded his head at me. Yes, I said. I thanked him again for his help with the tickets and he thanked me in return.
It's awkward with the language barrier. I tried to share with a man on the RER as rode into Paris from Charles De Gaulle Airport, but it was very difficult to know if there was any real connection.
Paris is an amazing city. We went to the top of the Eiffel Tower this evening after dark. The view is incredible. It's really quite spectacular. We walked quite a bit down town, just soaking up the sites and enjoying the environment. We have one more full day here and then head to New Delhi Friday morning. We arrive in New Delhi late Friday night.
