Date night with Shannon. She chose Carrabba's. Big crowd. Twenty minute wait. We found a seat among the crowd. While finding a seat in the waiting area, we sat next to a family--mom, dad, and three girls. They were high-fiving each other when we passed by, so in a friendly gesture I started high-fiving them, too. That started a friendly conversation.
To turn it to the spiritual, I pulled out my wallet to see if I had some gospel tracts but was all out. Darn, I told them. You're outta luck. I was going to give you a million dollars but I'm all out. We'll take some one's the oldest teenage girl countered. Quick, I thought. Real quick. Tell you what, I said, I'll give you $20 dollars if you can pass the Good Person test. Their eyes lit up for that. So did all of the other people sitting in the waiting area.
I went through the law with them and, as you can expect, they didn't pass the Good Person test. But, that opened the door to help explain to them how the law is a teacher that leads us to Christ. I shared the gospel with them and the entire family while everyone else in the waiting area could overhear.
The teenage girls in the family had some really good questions, and we had a great discussion. The father thanked me and said he really needed to get back into church with his family. The father had repented and trusted Christ but admitted he needed to get back on track in his walk with the Lord. One of the teenage girls expressed a desire to repent. The other had doubts about the bible. I began to explain the evidences to her. Shannon pulled out a special tract that explained 10 reasons why you can believe the Bible and other evidences for faith in the Lord, and handed it to her.
Pray for this precious family and for the salvation of the oldest daughter, that she will believe and repent.
