Two gentlemen were standing outside the Courthouse chatting. I strolled up to them and offered them some gospel tracts. One man, Steve, professed to be a believer who knew what his eternal destiny would be. I asked him how he knew for sure. Because I believe in Jesus and have received him as my Lord and Savior, Steve replied. That's great, I answered, asking him if he believed that Jesus is God. Yes, I do, he said. Do you believe he died in your place, taking the punishment you deserve, so you don't have to, I asked? Yes, he said. Do you believe he rose again the third day to prove he is God, I inquired. Yes, he said. That's great, I replied. I encouraged Steve to share his faith with others who may not know the Word of Life.
The other gentleman, however, whose name was Willie, was a different story. Willie didn't know what his destiny would be. He didn't want to know either. Willie was too bitter and distracted by what he considered to be evils and injustices of the court system. He felt wrongly accused and convicted of a DUI. He wouldn't really listen to reason. I tried to diplomatically encourage Willie to consider his eternal destiny before it's too late.
Then there was a the couple who both admitted they didn't know what their destiny would be. They wanted to know. I shared the gospel with them and encouraged them to act on the gospel before it's too late, as they walked off into the courthouse. They were appreciative, or at least appeared to be outwardly.
Then there's Patrick. He's a friend that I started sharing with last year. Today I was excited to learn that he went to the BSF intro night to sign up to study the Gospel of John! So rewarding to see the fruit beginning to show!
