Shawn works hard. He's a full-time student at a local aviation school. He works three jobs. He's created one business of his own that's starting to take off, an internet business providing middleman services through ebay. Met him at a restaurant where we took the family out to eat for dinner last night.
Just as Jesus struck up a conversation with a woman at a well, looking for that right opportunity to turn the conversation to the eternal welfare of the woman's soul, I struck up a conversation with Shawn throughout and after our meal. I gave Shawn a gospel tract and asked him if he knew where he would spend eternity if died. He didn't know. I urged him to read the gospel tract, because it would tell him what he must do in order to be saved. He thanked me. Not only that, he asked me to ask for him the next time we're there. I told him I would do that and that I would ask him if he knew where he would be going.
Shawn's a hard worker. But, you can't work your way into heaven. "Not by works of righteousness that we've done, but according to His mercy He has saved us .... (Titus 3:5)."
Who will you see today that needs to hear the gospel? How many paths will you cross as you run your errands and live your life? Do you have tracts on you? Will you load up with them? Will you pass them out? Will you take interest in people in order to take advantage of opportunities to share the word of life with them? Pray for grace, compassion, and boldness to do it while you still can.
